Frik doesn't seem too excited about reaching our first port, Oslo.

Me in front of the Lobelia (with the Primula behind it), docked in the Oslo fjord. One of the striking things in Oslo was that the Belgians all talked to the Norwegians in English. Here were two groups of people who don't speak English as a native tongue using it as a lingua franca. Pretty cool.

So Ben and I started walking around Oslo with Nicolas, one of the cadets from the Primula, and he was asked to dance by this woman wearing what looked like a traditional dress. It turns out that she was getting married that day. Way to go, Ben!

There are lots of parks in Oslo--every few blocks there seems to be another one. Here are the American midshipmen in one such park with quite a view.
|
The Scream by Edvard Munch. They've got a whole room full of his stuff in a free museum in Oslo...along with some Picasso, a van Gogh, etc. Pretty cool.

Taking a break from a climb up the ancient Akershus fortress in Oslo, with the port in the background.
